CENSUS BUREAU UPDATE FOR 2010

We want to extend our appreciation to Ms. Burgundie Fulton for her presentation to us at our last meeting regarding the 2010 United States Census.

Early in March 2010 the U.S. Census Department will be mailing out Census Forms. There are ten questions that should take no more than ten minutes to complete.

Census data is used to determine the population which in turn determines the number of seats each State will have in the U.S. house of representatives.

Households are requested to provide key demographic information, including whether a housing unit is rented or owned; the address of the residence; and the names, genders, ages and races of others living in the household, whether they are citizens or non-citizens.

For any household that does not return the questionnaire by April 1, 2010, a representative of the Census Bureau will be visiting your house between May-July, 2010. By December 31, 2010, the Census Bureau, by law, must deliver the population counts to the President. By law, the Census Bureau completes delivery of redistricting data to Sates by March 2010.
