UPDATE ON THE TRASH PICK-UP SITUATION
This just in from President Phyllis Matlick, published in the December 2009 newsletter:
Several people have called regarding their leaves not being collected on trash day. Well, I inquired why this had happened and here is what I was informed. There is a new policy on leaf pickup which has not been publicized to the public which states that all leaf bags that are in dark colored trash bags must have a tag or paper taped on the bag stating that all these bags have leaves in them or else use the clear plastic bags. The regular trash trucks will no longer pick up the leaves, but between trash day and three days following, another truck will come and pickup leaves. If they aren't picked up in the space of time call 311.
Okay, so how does this save tax payers money? (Wasn't the whole idea to cut down the number of days trucks would go out? Sounds like they're spending the money anyway...)
And when was the city going to tell the community about this change? In the Spring? Next fall? After a new Mayor is elected?
