We want to extend our sincere thanks to officers Tserkis, Banks and Blumberg for attending our October meeting and explaining to us Mayor Dixon's policy on removing all abandoned vehicles now.
Sgt Tserkis explained that if a car is parked in the area for more than 48 hours, you should call 311 and give the make and model, color, tag number and address where the car is, and any markings on the vehicle.
The police are particularly interested in untagged cars or expired tags. You may also take notice of cars in the community that may have out-of-state tags that have either expired or have been there for a long period of time. This is also a violation if someone has moved into the community and is still using an out-of-state tag. These cars are considered abandoned.
The purpose of this new regulation is to help beautify the city.
We know our neighbors vehicles and how many they have. You certainly won't call if a car has been left in front of your house for more than 48 hours, especially if you know why.
